Job summary

Contact Energy in Taupō region is seeking a Generation Technician for a 12-month fixed-term role. You will operate and maintain high‑voltage, mechanical and rotating plant, working independently across remote sites and with the wider team when issues arise.

You’ll bring a mechanical or electrical trade, with hydro exposure and experience maintaining large-scale plant. A NZ driver license and strong safety focus are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant mechanical or electrical trade, with hands-on power generation experience.
• Experience with large-scale industrial plant, preferably hydro.
• Strong safety mindset and ability to work independently across sites.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine maintenance, inspections and condition monitoring of generation assets.
• Investigate faults, diagnose issues and coordinate repairs.
• Work across mechanical, electrical, HV and rotating plant.
• Operate equipment safely following guidelines and competency requirements.
• Plan scheme, asset and outage work and updates to records.
