Responsibilities

• Hydraulic service & repair.
• Identify and work with hydraulic components: pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, accumulators, filters, manifolds, hoses and fittings.
• Dismantling, cleaning, inspection and reassembly of hydraulic components.
• Basic hydraulic fault-finding and diagnostic techniques.
• Preventative maintenance and system inspections.
• Assistance with flushing, pressure testing and commissioning under supervision.
• Installation and replacement of hydraulic hoses, tubing and fittings.
• Maintain clean and organised workshop and service areas.
• Assist with workshop repairs and rebuilds.

The Hydraulic Service Trainee will learn the skills and knowledge required to become a competent Hydraulic Service Technician. Working alongside experienced Hyspecs technicians and engineers, the trainee will gain practical experience in the inspection, maintenance, repair, testing and installation of hydraulic equipment and systems. The role is suited to someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work and is interested in how hydraulic machinery and fluid power systems operate.

Key responsibilities

• Hydraulic Service & Repair
• Learn to identify and work with hydraulic components including pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, accumulators, filters, manifolds, hoses and fittings
• Assist with the dismantling, cleaning, inspection and reassembly of hydraulic components
• Learn basic hydraulic fault-finding and diagnostic techniques
• Assist with preventative maintenance and system inspections
• Assist with hydraulic system flushing, pressure testing and commissioning under supervision

Workshop & Mobile Service

• Assist with workshop repairs and rebuilds.
• Prepare tools, equipment, components and materials for service jobs.
• Assist with loading and unloading service equipment and components.
• Learn to safely use workshop machinery, hydraulic test equipment and hose assembly equipment.
• Participate in mobile service and customer site work as required.
• Help keep service vehicles, tools and equipment clean, safe and ready for use.

Hyspecs' service facilities include pump, motor, cylinder and valve test benches, service vans, test and calibration equipment, hose assembly presses and tube bending/forming equipment.

Learning & Development

• Develop an understanding of hydraulic principles and fluid power systems.
• Learn how hydraulic pumps, motors and valves operate and where different component types are used.
• Learn to read and understand basic hydraulic circuit diagrams and symbols.
• Develop knowledge of pressure, flow, force and torque relationships.
• Learn systematic fault-finding and diagnostic methods.
• Develop component identification and product knowledge.
• Complete internal and external training as required.
• Progress towards working independently as skills and competency develop.

Health & Safety

• Follow all Hyspecs health and safety procedures and instructions.
• Use appropriate PPE and safety equipment at all times.
• Understand and respect the hazards associated with high-pressure hydraulic systems.
• Follow correct isolation, depressurisation and safe working procedures before working on equipment.
