Job summary

World Vision New Zealand is seeking a Relationship Officer to grow meaningful support from donors and Visionaries, mainly by phone. You’ll manage a portfolio of donors, invite gifts, thank supporters, and introduce major gifts through our Philanthropy Managers as you develop your donor stewardship skills.

With coaching from experienced colleagues, you will build genuine relationships, work toward targets, and collaborate with Fundraising, Marketing and Content teams in a hybrid Auckland-based

Qualifications

• Experience in relationship-based work such as fundraising, account management or similar roles.
• Track record of meeting targets and managing your own workload.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills, with a warm phone manner.
• Comfort discussing sensitive topics (gifts in wills) with empathy and clarity.
• Background in not-for-profit or mission-led fundraising is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Build genuine relationships with donors mostly by phone and learn their story, values and hopes.
• Create a personal gift plan for each donor and invite gifts clearly and honestly.
• Thank donors and show the impact of their gifts for children.
• Guide Visionaries from first enquiry to a confirmed gift in their will.
• Spot supporters who could give more and learn from colleagues as you grow with World Vision.
• Keep accurate CRM records and support donor events with colleagues across teams.
