Job summary

Cooke Industries Limited NZ is seeking a skilled HVAC drafter to produce detailed ductwork manufacturing drawings and fabrication documentation, using consultant drawings, plans, site measurements, and client concepts.

In this role you will program ductwork in Trimble FabShop to drive CNC fabrication and contribute to BIM workflows with Revit and related tools, collaborating with project managers, installers, and manufacturing teams from concept to installation.

Qualifications

• HVAC/ductwork detailing or sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Proficient in AutoCAD.
• Proficient in Revit.
• Experience with Revit and BIM workflows.
• Experience programming or detailing for duct manufacturing environments.
• Understanding CNC-driven fabrication processes.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Familiarity with Trimble FabShop or similar HVAC fabrication software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed HVAC and ductwork manufacturing drawings.
• Convert consultant drawings, site sketches, measurements, and client concepts into fabrication-ready documentation.
• Conduct site measure-ups where required.

Job description

About the Role

This role goes well beyond traditional drafting.

You will be responsible for producing detailed manufacturing drawings and programming fabrication information from a wide range of sources, including consultant drawings, architectural plans, site measure-ups, client sketches, marked-up plans, existing building layouts, and as-built information.

Working closely with project managers, production teams, installers, engineers, and customers, you will ensure projects progress accurately and efficiently from concept through to manufacture and installation.

A key part of the role will be programming ductwork into our Trimble FabShop fabrication software to drive our CNC manufacturing processes.

You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of Revit, BIM, and digital manufacturing processes within the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed HVAC and ductwork manufacturing drawings

About You

Ideally you will have:

• Experience in HVAC, ductwork detailing, mechanical services, sheet metal fabrication, or a related industry
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Strong proficiency in Revit
• Experience with Revit and BIM workflows
• Experience programming or detailing for duct manufacturing environments
• Understanding of CNC-driven fabrication processes
• Ability to interpret hand sketches, field measurements, and incomplete design information
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A practical, solutions-focused approach
• Experience with Trimble FabShop, Autodesk Fabrication CADmep, CAMduct, or similar HVAC fabrication software would be highly regarded.
