Job summary

Scientific & Technical Recruitment is partnering with a well-established manufacturing business in Auckland to hire an experienced Health and Safety Manager who can influence safety culture on the factory floor.

You will lead incident investigations, risk assessments and coach leaders, with autonomy to drive practical H&S improvements in a busy production environment.

Qualifications

• H&S qualification required.
• Experience in a busy manufacturing environment preferred.
• Ability to coach others in safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Partner with operational leaders to strengthen safety behaviours and accountability.

We're working with a well-established manufacturing business to find an experienced Health and Safety Manager who can make a genuine difference to safety performance and culture.

This is an opportunity to join a busy, challenging production environment where safety is already taken seriously. The systems are established, the operational leadership team is supportive, and the foundations are in place.

What they're looking for now is someone who can take things further. Someone who is confident on the factory floor, comfortable challenging decisions when needed, and able to explain the why behind safety requirements to bring people along with them.

This is much more than an administrative H&S role. You'll have the autonomy to take ownership, influence operational leaders and help strengthen an already positive safety culture.

What you will do

• Partner with operational leaders to strengthen safety behaviours and accountability across the site.
• Provide practical H&S advice, coaching and guidance to employees and management.
• Lead and support incident investigations, risk assessments and corrective action follow-up.
• Oversee contractor safety, injury management, audits and safe operating procedures.
• Maintain and improve H&S systems, ensuring compliance with NZ legislation and company standards.

What we are looking for

• H&S experience, ideally gained in a busy manufacturing environment.
• Strong influencing and communication skills, with the confidence to challenge decisions constructively.
• Practical experience in incident investigations, risk management and H&S compliance.
• A relevant H&S qualification and the ability to coach others in safe working practices.
• A proactive, approachable personality who enjoys being visible on the factory floor and taking ownership.
