Job summary

Summerset's St Johns village in Auckland is seeking a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to keep resident spaces clean, fresh, and homely, while supporting infection control and safety. You’ll interact with residents and whānau in a caring setting.

This casual on-call role offers full training and opportunities to grow within aged care, hospitality, and wellness, supported by a friendly team in a warm village atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Housekeeping experience, ideally in healthcare or hospitality.
• Pride in work and small details.
• Physically fit and able to be on your feet.
• Genuine interest in aged care with full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Cleaning resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities.
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Labeling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and their whānau.

A Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant at Summerset is more than just a cleaner.

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming St Johns village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role, working on as and when needed basis.

Qualifications:

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary - full training provided)
