Job summary

Summerset’s St Johns village is seeking a dedicated Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to help keep residents’ living areas clean, safe, and homely. You’ll be part of a warm village team dedicated to dignity and comfort for residents and their whānau.

Your day-to-day includes cleaning across resident rooms, laundry tasks, and supporting infection control, while building respectful relationships with residents. This is a casual, as-needed role with training provided.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping in healthcare or hospitality preferred.
• Attention to small details and pride in work.
• Physically fit and able to be on your feet.
• Genuine interest in aged care; full training provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities to high standards.
• Launder, fold and return residents’ clothing and linens with care.
• Label, mend, and maintain residents' personal laundry items.
• Support infection control measures and health and safety procedures.
• Build friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understand their needs.

We’re looking for a hardworking, caring Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant to join our warm and welcoming St Johns village team. This role is all about making sure our residents feel comfortable, safe, and truly at home.

As a Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant, you'll be a key part of creating a clean, uplifting, and homelike environment for residents, their whānau, and fellow team members.

Your day-to-day activities will include:

• Ensuring high-quality cleaning across resident rooms, bathrooms, communal areas, laundry, and kitchen facilities
• Laundering, folding and returning residents’ clothing and linens with care and attention
• Labelling, mending and maintaining residents' personal laundry items
• Supporting infection control measures and health and safety procedures
• Building friendly, respectful relationships with residents and understanding their unique needs

This is a casual role, working on as and when needed basis.

Qualifications

You’ll be a great fit if you:

• You have experience in housekeeping ideally in healthcare or hospitality
• Take pride in your work and care about the small details
• Are physically fit and comfortable working on your feet
• Have a genuine interest in aged care (no experience necessary — full training provided)
