Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking an experienced housekeeper to maintain a private residence. The role involves daily cleaning, laundry, kitchen upkeep, and light meal preparation including Mediterranean, Tandoori, and Italian dishes.

Responsibilities

• Deep-cleaning activities including carpet steam cleaning
• Maintain kitchens and food preparation areas
• Assist with meal preparation, with experience in Indian cuisine
• Strip, make beds, and change bed linen regularly
• Manage laundry, sorting, washing, drying, ironing
• Monitor and replenish household supplies and inventories
• Coordinate stock levels and notify for replenishment
• Safely use ladders and household equipment
• Care for household pets, including a pet bird
• Carry out other general housekeeping duties as required

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Carry out daily cleaning and upkeep of the home, including all interior areas and immediate outdoor spaces such as the front and back decks
• Perform routine and detailed cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, rubbish removal, and bathroom cleaning
• Undertake deep-cleaning activities when required, including carpet steam cleaning and detailed surface cleaning
• Maintain kitchens and food preparation areas, including washing dishes and utensils, cleaning appliances, cupboards, benches, pantries, and floors
• Assist with meal preparation and cooking, with a strong preference for experience in preparing Indian cuisine
• Strip, make beds, and change bed linen regularly to maintain hygiene and comfort standards
• Manage laundry duties including sorting, washing, drying, ironing, and basic mending of clothes and household linen
• Ensure household supplies are monitored and maintained, including linens, groceries, drinking glasses, and other essential household items
• Maintain minimum stock levels and inventories around the property and notify when replenishment is required
• Work comfortably around household pets, including a pet bird
• Use household equipment safely, including ladders, to access and clean high or hard-to-reach areas
• Carry out other general housekeeping duties as reasonably required from time to time to support the household

Skills and Experience

• Prior experience of 2 years in a housekeeping or similar domestic role is preferred
• Ability to manage a range of household tasks independently and efficiently
• Good understanding of hygiene, cleanliness, and safe use of cleaning equipment
• Cooking skills in Mediterranean, Tandoori, Italian is expected.
• Physically fit and comfortable performing manual household tasks
• Trustworthy, organised, and respectful of privacy in a private residence setting
