Job summary

Jora New Zealand is seeking a caring Home Care Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to an adult client living independently in Oamaru. The role combines personal care, mobility support, transport, exercise encouragement, and helping maintain independence and quality of life.

You will be compassionate, patient, punctual and able to work independently while building trusting relationships. A full NZ driver licence and access to a reliable vehicle are required; police and reference checks

Qualifications

• Experience in caregiving or disability support is beneficial.
• Ability to pass police checks and provide references.
• Right to work in New Zealand and valid driver licence.

Responsibilities

• Assist with morning personal care and grooming routines.
• Support showering, dressing and personal hygiene.
• Assist with prescribed mobility exercises and gentle movement.
• Provide transport to swimming and exercise activities.
• Support community participation and overall wellbeing.

About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting with morning personal care and grooming routines
• Supporting showering, dressing, and personal hygiene
• Assisting with prescribed hand and mobility exercises
• Providing transport to swimming and exercise activities
• Supporting community participation and wellbeing
• Promoting dignity, independence, and personal choice at all times

The role includes regular morning support, weekly swimming sessions, and exercise outings.

You will be:

• Compassionate, patient, and dependable
• Physically fit and able to assist with mobility support
• Reliable and punctual
• Able to work independently and build positive relationships
• Respectful of privacy and confidentiality
• Full NZ Driver Licence and reliable vehicle
• Ability to pass police and reference checks

• Previous caregiving, disability support, healthcare, or community support experience preferred
