Job summary

Healthvision NZ in Otago is seeking a compassionate and resilient support worker to assist people with health-related needs in the Oamaru community. This role focuses on delivering person-centred care, building trusted relationships, and supporting daily living activities.

We value empathy, reliability, and flexibility, with rotating rosters including mornings, afternoons, and weekends. Part-time opportunities offer casual, part-time, and full-time discussions during recruitment.

Qualifications

  • Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with complex medical conditions, like spinal injuries, traumatic brain injury.
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered.
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must).
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster.
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with personal cares (showering, bathing).
  • Assisting with household management and meal preparation.
  • Supporting exercise programmes.
  • Assisting with accessing the community.
  • Bowel, Bladder, and Catheter cares.
  • Moving and handling hoists and manual transfers.
  • Medication support.

Job Location: Oamaru - Otago

Employment Type:Part Time

We offer a range of employment opportunities including casual, part-time, and full-time positions, which will be discussed further during the recruitment process.

Days of Work:As this is community-based work, rotating rosters would be involved including am, pm and weekend work. Your preferred hours of work can be discussed during the recruitment process.

The duration of these hours may vary, ranging from shorter to longer periods, depending on the specific needs of the people we support.

About you | He momo

You are a calm but confident natured individual who can demonstrate resilience and understand the challenges of service users. There are many responsibilities associated with being a support worker which can be challenging and fulfilling. It is rewarding when you are part of the support that enables a person to live their best lives in the community.

The candidate would have (Candidate Pre-Requisites):
  • Ideally prior personal care experience is preferred

  • A Level 3 or Level 4 Health and Wellbeing qualification is beneficial and those looking to enter the healthcare sector will also be considered (comprehensive training can be provided)
  • Access to a car and ability to drive independently (a full New Zealand Driver's License is a must)
  • Flexibility to work on a rotating roster
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand is a must.

Pay Band:$25.22 - $31.40per hour (This is based on the Pay Equity Settlement 2017 - hourly pay rates based on equivalency of Healthcare Qualifications assessed under Pay Equity).
