Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is seeking an Additional Teacher to support a learner in home-based learning in the Waikato Region. This part-time role, 5 hours per week, offers an opportunity to contribute to a professional team and provide tailored learning support to empower ākonga to reach their goals.

This role emphasizes flexibility, empathy, and adaptability to make a meaningful impact on the student’s learning journey.

Qualifications

Experience as a Teacher Aide or in similar role supporting ākonga with special educational needs.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills with ākonga, kaiako, and whānau.
Patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting students to succeed.

Responsibilities

Supporting ākonga with their learning, as outlined in their IEP.
Assisting Kaiako in delivering lessons and adapting materials for individual needs.
Providing one-on-one or small group support to help ākonga achieve learning goals.
Supporting ākonga to engage in online learning and use assistive technology where required.
Encouraging a culturally responsive and inclusive learning environment.
Monitoring progress, providing feedback to Kaiako, and keeping accurate records.
Attending team meetings, professional development and supporting learning events or activities.
