Job summary

NZ Transport Agency (Waka Kotahi) invites an Asset Manager to lead asset management and technical oversight for maintenance and renewal programmes across Taranaki’s state highway corridor, collaborating with contractors, local authorities, and internal stakeholders to keep the network safe and efficient.

Based in New Plymouth, this permanent, full-time role offers a salary of NZD 92,700–112,000, five weeks annual leave, life and income protection insurance, and flexible working arrangements;

Qualifications

• Experience applying asset management principles to transport infrastructure.
• Ability to interpret complex technical datasets and develop practical maintenance programmes.
• Understanding of pavement engineering and highway surface data.
• Experience in field validation, network inspections, and asset condition assessment.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, Asset Management, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).

Responsibilities

• Develop maintenance and renewal programmes.
• Analyse network and pavement condition data.
• Conduct inspections and field validation activities.
• Manage asset data quality and reporting.
• Identify opportunities to improve network performance and maintenance outcomes.
• Provide technical advice on land use developments and stakeholder matters.
