Job summary

Employer Sponsored Jobs is seeking a reliable and experienced Heavy Vehicle Diesel Mechanic to join a supportive team in New Zealand. You will service, repair and maintain heavy vehicles, diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues, and perform preventative maintenance with attention to safety and documentation.

The role requires at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Class 1 licence (Class 4 advantageous), and a willingness to undergo pre-employment testing.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of relevant heavy-vehicle diesel mechanic experience.
• Full Class 1 driver's licence.
• Class 4 licence advantageous.
• Demonstrated diesel engine repair experience.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding ability.
• Knowledge of hydraulics systems.
• Knowledge of vehicle electrical systems.
• Good communication and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to workplace safety.
• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and software.
• Ability to complete service documentation accurately.
• Physically capable of heavy vehicle mechanical work.
• Willingness to complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Ability to pass a medical assessment.
• Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice check.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair heavy diesel vehicles.
• Service diesel engines and associated mechanical components.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic and electrical issues.
• Carry out preventative maintenance programs.
• Complete scheduled servicing and inspections.
• Investigate faults and determine appropriate repairs.
• Complete repairs accurately and within required timeframes.
• Use diagnostic equipment and software.
• Maintain detailed workshop and service records.
• Follow all safety procedures and workplace standards.
• Keep tools, equipment and workshop areas organised.
• Undertake work both indoors and outdoors as required.
