Job summary

6am Recruitment in Wellington is seeking a qualified automotive trades technician for heavy equipment service. You’ll diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance and work with the latest tooling in busy field and workshop environments.

NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa is required. Certification to Level 3 in Automotive Trades and Licences 1–4 (WTR preferred) are expected. You’ll share knowledge, learn from peers and deliver high‑quality repairs.

Qualifications

• Cert level 3 in Automotive Trades required.
• Experience with Heavy Earthmoving/Agricultural/Plant/Construction equipment.
• Ability to diagnose faults through manuals; software experience is a bonus.
• Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and perform preventative maintenance on heavy equipment.
• Troubleshoot issues in workshop and field environments to ensure first-time fixes.
• Collaborate with team and mentor less experienced technicians.
