Job summary

Rubbish Direct is seeking a Diesel Mechanic / Fleet Mechanic to service, maintain and repair our Isuzu rubbish trucks in Glendene, West Auckland. This is a hands-on role focused on preventing breakdowns, safety and reliability for the fleet.

You will work closely with drivers and operations, across diesel, brakes, suspension, driveline, hydraulics and auto electrical, including preventative maintenance and pre-COF checks. Stable full-time work with meals and rewards.

Qualifications

• Diesel mechanic / heavy vehicle experience and the right to work in New Zealand.
• Fault-finding and diagnostic ability.
• Experience working on heavy trucks, ideally Isuzu.
• Solid knowledge across servicing, brakes, suspension and driveline.
• Knowledge of auto electrics and hydraulics, with the ability to troubleshoot and learn where needed.
• Practical, hands-on all-rounder who can work independently.
• Takes pride in their workmanship and works safely.
• Reliable, organised and communicates well with the wider team.
• Experience with waste trucks, compactors, bin lifters, hydraulic equipment or fleet maintenance would be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Service, maintain and repair our fleet of Isuzu rubbish trucks.
• Diagnose faults and fix them properly.
• Carry out preventative maintenance, inspections and pre-COF checks.
• Work across diesel, brakes, suspension, driveline, hydraulics and auto electrical.
• Maintain compactors, truck equipment and related plant.
• Respond to breakdowns and urgent repairs when required.
• Work closely with drivers and operations staff to identify issues early and minimise downtime.
