Job summary

Delegat is seeking a Head of Viticulture based in Blenheim to lead our New Zealand viticultural teams. You will implement scientifically led practices to optimise yield and quality across our 3,200 hectares in Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay, reporting to Group Operations Manager - Viticulture and Winemaking.

You will lead Vineyard Managers and Viticulturalists, plan operations, manage budgets, and foster a high-performance, safety-focused culture across our world-class vineyards.

Qualifications

• Must hold a tertiary qualification in viticulture.
• Experience leading large-scale viticulture operations with commercial acumen.
• Proven track record in high-performance environments.
• Strong people leadership and development capabilities.
• Solid knowledge of NZ WHS legislation.

Responsibilities

• Lead engagement and development of Vineyard Managers and Viticulturalists to drive excellence.
• Plan vineyard operations to optimise yield and quality while pursuing efficiency.
• Oversee budgets and equipment needs for the Viticulture division.

About the role

We are seeking a Head of Viticulture, based in Blenheim, with proven experience to lead our New Zealand viticultural teams. Accountable for the implementation of our world class scientifically led viticultural practices that optimise yield and quality of our cool climate vineyards, spanning over 3,200 hectares in the premier regions of Marlborough and Hawke’s Bay.

Reporting directly to the Group Operations Manager - Viticulture and Winemaking, the successful applicant will:

• Lead engagement and development of our Vineyard Managers and Viticulturalists to foster a culture of innovation and technical excellence of our world class vineyards.
• Lead and ensure all vineyard operations are planned to optimise yield and quality while also driving continuous improvement, focused on operational excellence and efficiency.
• Review annual Viticulture Division plant and equipment requirements and the Viticulture Division operating budgets.
• Develop an industry-leading, high-performance workplace culture and embed a strong health and safety culture across the teams.

What you will bring

• You are tertiary qualified in viticulture.
• Experience in managing large-scale viticulture operations, with commercial acumen.
• Proven experience working in high-performance environments.
• A collaborative, growth-focused leadership style with excellent people management skills.
• Current working knowledge and experience of relevant NZ WHS legislation and requirements.
