Job summary

The Glass Goose Bar & Eatery in Auckland is seeking a dedicated full-time cook to lead a high-end kitchen team and uphold exceptional standards.

You will manage stock, cost controls, and rosters while mentoring staff to deliver outstanding dishes in a fast-paced environment. Competitive pay of NZ$35–45 per hour plus development opportunities and cross-site work.

Qualifications

• Passion for food and creating memorable dining experiences.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to lead a team.
• Strong leadership and culinary skills with high standards.
• Energy to share knowledge with the team and drive performance.
• Proven experience in fast-paced, high-end kitchen environments.
• Relevant NZQCF Level 2+ qualification or at least 2 years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Completing ordering and stocktaking to plan and manage food costs.
• Create rosters and managing wage costs.
• Monitoring quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation.
• Discussing food preparation issues with managers, kitchen and waiting staff.
• Demonstrating techniques and advising on cooking procedures.
• Preparing and cooking food to a consistently high standard.
• Taking ownership of the food control plan and cleaning standards.
• Mentoring and development of the team to ensure role clarity.
• Ensure all food is prepped and portion controlled before service.
• Ensuring clear communication between kitchen, FOH and head office.
