Job summary

Macmahon New Zealand is seeking experienced Auto Electricians to join the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island. You will maintain, diagnose and repair electrical and electronic systems across a modern underground mining fleet, including Sandvik loaders and drills, ITs, light vehicles and ancillary equipment.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in auto electrical work with NZ/ANZ recognition.
• At least 2 years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson.
• Experience maintaining underground mining equipment, Sandvik fleet preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience managing maintenance records and reporting systems.
• Valid NZ Class 1 manual drivers licence (essential)

Responsibilities

• Diagnostics, repairs and preventative electrical maintenance on underground mining fleet.
• Servicing and maintenance to OEM standards and site procedures.
• Support equipment reliability, availability and safe operating performance.
• Collaborate with production and planning teams to safely execute maintenance activities.

About the Role

Macmahon New Zealand is seeking experienced Auto Electricians to join our team at the Snowy River Gold Mine Project near Reefton on New Zealand’s South Island. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for the maintenance, diagnostics and repair of electrical and electronic systems across a modern underground mining fleet, including Sandvik loaders and drills, Volvo Integrated Tool Carriers (ITs), light vehicles, buses and ancillary equipment. Working alongside a skilled maintenance team, you will contribute to safe, reliable and efficient fleet performance while developing your expertise in a dynamic underground mining environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, repairs and preventative electrical maintenance on underground’s mining fleet.
• Complete servicing and maintenance to OEM standards and site procedures.
• Support equipment reliability, availability and safe operating performance.
• Collaborate with production and planning teams to safely execute maintenance activities.
• Promote a strong safety culture and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Bring

• Australian or New Zealand recognised Auto Electrical Trade Qualification (Cert III or equivalent).
• At least 2 years’ experience as a qualified tradesperson.
• Experience maintaining and repairing underground mining equipment, ideally Sandvik fleet.
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills across heavy mobile equipment.
• Experience managing maintenance records and reporting systems.
• Valid unrestricted manual New Zealand Class 1 or Australian C Class Driver's Licence (essential).
