Job summary

Quantifi Photonics, part of the Teradyne family, seeks a Hardware Engineer in New Zealand to design and validate electronic hardware for photonics test systems.

You will work cross-functionally across Systems, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, and Production to deliver robust, manufacturable designs that meet performance, quality, cost and schedule objectives. 3+ years in hardware design and analogue/digital/mixed-signal experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in electronic hardware design, development, testing or support.
• Experience with analogue, digital, mixed-signal and/or power electronics design and verification.
• Proficiency with e-CAD tools (Altium Designer) including schematic capture and pcb layout/manufacture considerations.
• Hands-on lab skills, debugging and hardware bring-up.
• Experience scripting tests in Python or MATLAB for automation/analysis.
• Embedded systems knowledge and C/C++ programming.
• Version control experience (Git or SVN).
• Strong communication, documentation and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Own design and development of circuits, PCBs, and hardware modules for photonics test systems.
• Translate requirements into hardware specifications, tests and verification evidence.
• Perform schematic capture, component selection and PCB layout.
• Plan and execute laboratory testing with relevant instruments.
• Debug root-cause hardware and system issues and implement improvements.
• Develop automated test and data-analysis scripts to improve efficiency.
• Create and maintain design docs, verification records, BOMs and release data.
• Collaborate with Systems, Firmware, Software, Mechanical, NPI, Test Systems, Production, and Supply Chain teams.
• Establish manufacturing tests and acceptance criteria with Production and NPI.
