Job summary

Canstaff is seeking skilled Hammer-hands and Builders to join our Timaru team on a variety of commercial and civil projects. You will work within a safety-focused crew delivering quality builds across new developments, renovations, and maintenance.

Prospective candidates should have construction or carpentry experience, be reliable and physically fit, with own tools and transport preferred. Ongoing, full-time roles with weekly pay and opportunities for upskilling.

Qualifications

• Previous construction or carpentry experience
• Own tools and reliable transport preferred
• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour
• Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
• Good understanding of on-site safety and quality workmanship

About the Role

We’re on the lookout for skilled Hammer-hands and Builders to join our team working on a variety of commercial, and civil projects in Timaru and surrounding areas. You’ll be part of a hardworking, safety-focused crew delivering quality builds and repairs across a mix of new developments, renovations, and maintenance work.

Key Responsibilities

Assisting qualified builders and site supervisors with all aspects of construction

Carrying out formwork, framing, concreting, cladding, and finishing work

Reading and interpreting basic plans and instructions

Using and maintaining hand and power tools safely

Helping with material handling, site prep, and clean-up

Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety standards at all times

About You

Previous construction or carpentry experience

Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team

Good understanding of on-site safety and quality workmanship

Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour

Own tools and reliable transport preferred
