Job summary

Silver Fern Farms Ltd in Gore is seeking a Back-Up Halal Slaughterman to join our Waitane processing site during peak season. You will work in a fast-paced environment, contribute to halal production and support the team.

On-the-job training is provided with a minimum starting wage of 31.61 NZD per hour, with shifts 6:30am–3:00pm in lamb season and 12:00–8:00pm in calf season, plus overtime. Applicants should be practicing Muslims eligible to work in NZ.

Qualifications

• Must be a practicing Muslim, with eligibility to live and work in NZ.
• Prefer member of an Islamic Society in NZ.
• Excellent communication and team player ethos.

Responsibilities

• Back-up Halal Slaughterman duties in a busy production site.
• Complete on-the-job training to meet required standards.

Description

At Silver Fern Farms we know the importance of producing quality, certified halal meat available to our customers around the world. We are currently looking for a back-up Halal Slaughterman at our Waitane processing site in Gore.

Our Waitane team employs 200 staff at the peak of season and are a significant local contributor to the community.

We are looking for a motivated and reliable Back-Up Halal Slaughterman who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Working arrangements:

• Complete your on-the-job training and earn a minimum of $31.61 p/h
• Shift times from 6.30am to 3.00pm during lamb season (approx. Oct – June) and 12.00- 8.00pm during calf season (late July – September)
• One on one training to bring you up to speed

Job Requirements:

It is essential that you are a practicing Muslim, with eligibility to live and work in NZ. It is preferable that you are member of an Islamic Society in NZ.

As you are working in a small team, excellent communication skills and a great team player ethic are required. Ideally, you will be a qualified and registered Halal Slaughterman.

Previous food handling and health and safety knowledge in a production/manufacturing environment would be an advantage.
