Job summary

South Pacific Meats is recruiting for a fast-paced, hands-on role at our Canterbury processing plant. You will support the preparation, handling, and packing of meat to meet production and quality standards, across different parts of the processing chain.

The work is physical and repetitive, suited to reliable, practical individuals who can follow instructions in a team environment. Hours vary, and pay ranges from NZ$25 to NZ$42 per hour plus allowances and overtime.

Qualifications

• NZQCF Level 4 qualification in meat processing or at least four months experience in a comparable manual/production environment.
• Ability to carry out manual work, including lifting and standing for extended periods.
• Reliable attendance and ability to follow instructions.
• Basic understanding of workplace health and safety.
• Willingness to work in a structured production environment.

Responsibilities

• Handling and moving product through processing areas, including chillers and freezers.
• Packing meat products into cartons for storage or dispatch.
• Assisting with processing tasks, which may include trimming or basic cutting where required.
• Operating equipment used in processing and packing.
• Inspecting product for quality standards.
• Cleaning and sanitising equipment and work areas.
• Following all health and safety requirements, including use of PPE.
• Standing for up to 8 hours and lifting/moving items of at least 20kg.

Job Description

SPM Malvern is gearing up for our busy season and puttingtogether motivated teams at our modern processing plant in Canterbury. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic team members who have experience either in a meat processing role or in a comparable manufacturing or food processing environmentto help get NZ beef from our backyard to customers plates.

This is a fast-paced, hands-on role working across differentparts of the processing chain. You will support the preparation, handling, andpacking of meat and associated products to meet production and qualitystandards.

The work is physical and repetitive at times, and suited topeople who are reliable, practical, and able to follow instructions in a teamenvironment.

Hours of work vary from 30–60 hours per week, with paidrates ranging from $25 to $42 per hour, dependent on assigned task, skill, andexperience, plus any applicable allowances and overtime.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for:

• NZQCFLevel 4 qualification in meat processing OR at least four monthsexperience working in a comparable manual or production environment (suchas food production, manufacturing, processing, or similar physically basedwork)
