Gentrack is seeking a Group Finance Manager in Auckland, NZ to lead global financial operations, ensure IFRS-compliant reporting, and manage a team of accounting professionals. You will oversee revenue recognition, group consolidation, tax compliance, and governance across multiple jurisdictions, while driving process improvements and financial controls.

The role demands senior leadership, a Chartered Accountant, and extensive experience in multinational finance with strong Excel and ERP skills.

Qualifications

The Opportunity

As the Group Finance Manager reporting to the Group Financial Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the Global financial operations while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and accounting for the Gentrack Group. Your responsibilities will extend to project accounting, revenue recognition, and management of the billing process and cash collection. Leading a team of financial accountants and transactional team, you will be instrumental in compliance with IFRS and corporate policy, preparation and interpretation of monthly management accounts, group consolidation, and the preparation and filing of tax returns and statutory accounts. Beyond operational tasks, you will contribute to leadership initiatives, driving change management, and focusing on continuous improvement to enhance overall efficiency within the team.

Your Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
  • Ensure compliance with IFRS, corporate policies and statutory reporting requirements.
  • Lead the preparation and review of monthly Group consolidated accounts, annual reports and management reporting.
  • Oversee accounting for revenue, leases, incentives (e.g. ESOP) and other key technical accounting areas.
  • Maintain the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of the Group's financial reporting processes.
Audit, Controls & Risk Management
  • Serve as key contact for the Group Auditors, and key partner to Audit and Reporting Manager for all Local Auditors ensuring timely and successful completion of annual audits.
  • Develop, maintain and monitor effective internal controls across the finance function.
  • Perform reviews of key revenue and financial processes to ensure compliance and control effectiveness.
  • Support the identification, assessment and management of financial and operational risks.
Global Finance Operations
  • Lead the global transactional finance function, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll and Financial Reporting.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability and accuracy across finance operations.
  • Manage relationships with external accountants and service providers across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ensure global compliance obligations, including GST, VAT, FBT and other statutory filings, are met.
Treasury, Cash & Working Capital
  • Oversee treasury activities, including cash forecasting, banking operations and working capital management.
  • Support billing, collections and payment processes to optimise cash flow and maximise returns on excess funds.
  • Manage global banking relationships, access controls and banking requirements.
Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing global finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Ensure effective compliance with finance policies, procedures and governance frameworks.
What We’re Looking For:

Professional experience
  • Minimum of 10 years of accountancy and people management experience.
  • Familiarity with public company compliance and governance, demonstrating a track record of adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Experience in technology or professional services organizations with knowledge of revenue and lease accounting practices.
  • Proven experience in managing finances for multi-divisional international businesses.
  • Global Payroll knowledge, including expertise in international payroll processes.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of best practices in accounting.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • AI fluency with the ability to use AI-enabled tools to improve financial analysis, reporting, controls and process efficiency.
Personal Attributes
  • Chartered Accountant qualification is mandatory.
  • Ideally familiar with NetSuite.
  • Demonstrated passion for excellence and a commitment to achieving the highest standards.
