Job summary

Hilton Taupo is seeking a Grounds and Facilities Assistant to support our hotel operations. You will perform grounds maintenance, assist with general maintenance tasks, and help care for equipment and pool facilities to ensure guests enjoy a safe and welcoming stay.

Ideal candidates have experience in outdoor maintenance, strong practical skills in building trades, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset. This role requires flexibility for shifts, including weekends and holidays, and a commitment

Qualifications

• Previous experience in gardening, groundskeeping, landscaping, or similar outdoor maintenance.
• Strong practical skills across general building maintenance, or plumbing, electrical, carpentry, or mechanical work.
• Commitment to health, safety, and maintaining high work standards.
• Hands-on team player with excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and respond quickly to maintenance needs.
• Available to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Responsibilities

• Grounds & Garden Maintenance: Maintain the hotel grounds to a high standard and present the property beautifully.
• Hands-On Maintenance: Perform general maintenance, painting, plumbing, carpentry, and basic repairs across the hotel.
• Equipment & Asset Maintenance: Operate maintenance and gardening equipment safely and report faults promptly.
• Pool & Spa Maintenance: Assist with pool and spa testing and maintenance for guest safety and enjoyment.

You are responsible for the general work order maintenance work assigned by your superior, or assisting the Engineering department’s maintenance team in completing other maintenance work. As an Grounds and Facilities Assistant , you’re not just responsible for ensuring the normal operation of hotel equipment – you’re spreading the light and warmth of hospitality by delivering memorable experiences that make the stay for every guest.

Here’s what you’ll do during a typical day:

• Grounds & Garden Maintenance: Maintain the hotel grounds, gardens, lawns, and landscaped areas to a high standard, ensuring the property is presented beautifully at all times.
• Hands-On Maintenance: Carry out general maintenance repairs and general upkeep across the hotel, including basic painting, plumbing, carpentry, and repair work to help keep the property in excellent condition.
• Equipment & Asset Maintenance: Operate maintenance and gardening equipment safely, reporting faults promptly and ensuring all tools are used and stored correctly.
• Pool & Spa Maintenance: Assist with swimming pool and spa testing and maintenance to support guest safety and enjoyment.
