Job summary

LeaderBrand in Gisborne is seeking an experienced Greenhouse Technician to join our team. This hands-on role focuses on keeping irrigation systems, machinery and crops running smoothly.

You will monitor soil moisture and crop health, record data, operate tractors and equipment, and follow health and safety procedures. A tertiary qualification in agriculture is preferred, along with data-analysis experience and a proactive approach to maintenance and reporting.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in agriculture, business studies or similar.
• Experience with data analysis and forecast reports.
• Proven experience working in irrigation systems and crop monitoring.
• Good knowledge of safe work practices.

Responsibilities

• Set up, maintain and monitor irrigation equipment and systems.
• Monitor soil moisture, crop growth and health, and adjust irrigation as needed.
• Record data on irrigation schedules, soil moisture and crop performance.
• Prepare production reports, daily growth forecasts and harvest volume forecasts.
• Operate and maintain tractors, electric harvesting and equipment safely and efficiently.
• Carry out routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and machinery.
• Follow all health and safety procedures.

What you'll be doing:

• Setting up, maintaining and monitoring irrigation equipment and systems
• Monitoring soil moisture, crop growth and plant health, and adjusting irrigation as needed
• Recording data on irrigation schedules, soil moisture and crop performance
• Preparing production application reports, daily growth forecasts and harvest volume forecasts
• Operating and maintaining tractors, electric harvesting and electric vacuum equipment safely and efficiently
• Carrying out routine repairs and maintenance on equipment and machinery
• Following all health and safety procedures

To be successful, you will have:

• A tertiary qualification or higher in agriculture, business studies or similar
• Experience with data analysis and producing forecast reports
• Proven experience working in a similar role including irrigation systems, crop monitoring
• Good knowledge of safe work practices
