Job summary

Christchurch City Council is seeking a motivated student or recent graduate for a paid summer internship to shape Christchurch's Green Infrastructure Management Plan. You will work with the Parks Asset Management team on real strategic work, not just filing tasks.

You'll review manuals, research how councils manage green infrastructure in NZ, AU and Canada, analyse asset information, help define the green infrastructure portfolio, and draft the plan while learning practical asset management and

Qualifications

Master's, Honours, final-year undergraduate student or recent graduate in environmental management, environmental science, sustainability, planning, ecology, biodiversity, asset management, geography, or a related discipline.
Strong research and written communication skills; ability to apply knowledge to real-world challenges.

Responsibilities

Review the IPWEA Green Infrastructure Management Manual and related industry guidance.
Research how councils in New Zealand, Australia and Canada manage green infrastructure.
Analyse existing Council asset information, maps and reports.
Help define Christchurch's green infrastructure portfolio and asset hierarchy.
Develop a draft Green Infrastructure Management Plan.
Identify opportunities to improve long-term maintenance, renewal, risk management and investment planning.
