Coterra is seeking a Surveyor to join our Cromwell team. This role offers exposure across the full project lifecycle, including cadastral and engineering surveying, with opportunities to work with clients and councils. New Zealand cadastral and land development practice familiarity is valued.
A strong graduate or experienced candidate who can take ownership and work across multiple projects will thrive in this varied role. A competitive salary is offered based on experience.
Coterra is looking for a Surveyor to join our Cromwell team.
We are particularly interested in a strong graduate who can demonstrate ability, initiative and a practical approach. We are also open to someone with solid experience who is ready to take ownership of their work, contribute across a range of projects and continue developing professionally.
This is a varied role with involvement across the full project lifecycle, from initial survey and investigation through to resource consent, design, construction, cadastral survey and completion. The work includes cadastral, topographic and engineering surveying, construction set-out and monitoring, subdivision and resource consent work, and cadastral survey and Landonline work.
Ideally, you will have a Bachelor of Surveying or another relevant surveying qualification, although we are also interested in applicants with good practical surveying experience.
You will have a sound technical foundation, a practical approach and good communication skills. Experience with field and office surveying, 12d, Landonline, Leica equipment or DJI UAVs would all be useful, but are not essential.
You do not need to be a Licensed Cadastral Surveyor. If cadastral licensing is part of your career path, we can provide experience and support as you work towards it.
Relevant New Zealand surveying experience or familiarity with New Zealand cadastral and land development practice would be highly regarded.
Cromwell puts you at the centre of one of New Zealand's most active and varied surveying and land development regions.
Our projects extend throughout Central Otago and the Southern Lakes, while outside work you have lakes, mountains, trails, ski fields and a huge range of outdoor recreation on your doorstep.
Wanaka, Queenstown and Alexandra are all within easy reach, while Cromwell offers a growing community, good facilities and a relaxed Central Otago lifestyle.
Coterra is a surveying, planning and land development consultancy with teams in Cromwell and Wanaka.
Being a smaller firm means our surveyors tend to stay involved as projects move through different stages, rather than being confined to one narrow part of the job. You will have the opportunity to work directly with clients, contractors and councils, and see how projects progress from the initial survey through to completion.
You are not expected to be an expert in every area from day one. You will work alongside experienced colleagues, build on your existing strengths and gain experience across the wider land development process.
As your experience grows, so will your involvement in projects, client relationships and responsibility for delivery.
We offer a competitive salary based on your experience and capability, along with varied work and plenty of opportunity to develop professionally.
