About The Role

As a Graduate Engineer at ZURU Tech, you’ll join the Housing Engineering team building the future of construction, a fully automated, end-to-end system for designing and manufacturing buildings. Working alongside experienced mechanical and design engineers, you’ll take ownership of real design problems: developing components and assemblies in CAD, prototyping and testing them, and iterating toward manufacturable, high-quality solutions. It’s a role built for a graduate who wants to grow fast, ship real product, and see their designs go from screen to factory floor.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design and develop mechanical components, assemblies, and product systems in SolidWorks, taking concepts through to detailed, manufacturable designs.
  • Own scoped design work end to end - concept, CAD, drawings, prototyping, testing, and release to manufacturing.
  • Apply engineering first principles (statics, mechanics of materials, tolerancing, and material selection) to make sound, justifiable design decisions.
  • Build and test physical prototypes, capturing and analysing results to drive design iterations.
  • Design for manufacture and assembly (DFM/DFA), working closely with the manufacturing team to keep designs practical and cost-effective to produce.
  • Prepare clear engineering documentation, drawings, GD&T, calculation packs, and technical reports, to a checkable standard.
  • Research materials, components, standards, and manufacturing methods to inform and de-risk designs.
  • Collaborate across design, structural, and manufacturing teams to carry engineering intent through to production, and contribute ideas that improve the product and the process.
Skills & Experience
  • A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Product Design Engineering - completed or about to be.
  • Strong engineering fundamentals: statics, mechanics of materials, manufacturing methods, and design for manufacture.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) with a solid grasp of engineering drawings, tolerancing, and material selection; Python or other scripting is a plus.
  • A hands‑on, iterative mindset - comfortable prototyping, testing, and learning fast, with strong problem‑solving and attention to detail.
  • A clear communicator and collaborative team player, driven to take ownership and grow quickly in a fast‑paced environment.
