Job summary

New Zealand Police is seeking an International Strategy & Planning Advisor based at Police National Headquarters, Wellington. You will support NZ’s foreign policy objectives in the Pacific and beyond, contribute to capacity-building programmes, and coordinate international engagements.

The role requires strong written and oral communication, analytic ability, and capability to lead planning across three priority areas.

Qualifications

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to summarize disparate information clearly.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships.
  • Knowledge of strategy and planning frameworks, including monitoring and evaluation frameworks.
  • Knowledge of capability development programmes and/or policing in an international context.
  • Some international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Strategy & planning: Provide advice on the planning and implementation of strategies and activities in ISG’s three priority areas.
  • Programme implementation and reporting: Contribute to the design, monitoring and reporting of activities under the three priority areas.
  • International engagement: Support the planning and coordination of international delegations visiting NZ Police.
  • Official correspondence: Prepare quality, well written official correspondence and briefings as required.
