Job summary

Geotechnics Ltd wishes to recruit a practical, reliable Laboratory & Field Technician for Hawke’s Bay. The role is primarily laboratory-based with regular fieldwork supporting geotechnical investigations and construction projects.

You will perform soil, aggregate and pavement testing, record results, and assist with field sampling and site investigations. Training is provided, with an emphasis on accuracy and safety in varying weather and site conditions.

Qualifications

• Must be practical, dependable and willing to learn.
• Safety-conscious and able to follow procedures.
• Detail-oriented with good organisation and record keeping.
• Clear and open communicator with team and clients.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and test soil, aggregate and pavement samples in the laboratory.
• Accurately record results and maintain lab equipment and workspace.
• Carry out field testing using Scala, NDM, Clegg and shear vane equipment.
• Assist with sampling, test pits and site investigations.
• Travel to construction sites and work outdoors in varied conditions.
• Follow standards, procedures and health and safety guidelines.
