Job summary

Ngāti Porou Oranga is seeking a General Practitioner to provide high-quality, culturally responsive primary medical care within a whānau-centred model on the East Coast of Aotearoa New Zealand.

You will work in a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based assessment, diagnosis and management across the lifespan, with a focus on reducing health inequities for Māori and all communities served by NPO.

Qualifications

• Vocational registration and RNZCGP Fellowship (or working towards Fellowship)
• Current APC and eligibility to practise in Aotearoa New Zealand
• Strong clinical judgement and commitment to quality care
• Interest in Māori health and reducing inequities
• Collaborative, adaptable and relationship-focused approach

The General Practitioner is responsible for providing high-quality, comprehensive, and culturally responsive primary medical care to individuals and whānau accessing NPO Primary Care Services. Working within a multidisciplinary team, the role delivers evidence-based assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of acute, chronic and preventative healthcare needs while promoting equitable health outcomes and whānau-centred models of care. The General Practitioner contributes to integrated primary healthcare services, supports continuity of care across the wider health system, participates in clinical governance and quality improvement activities, and maintains the highest standards of professional and ethical medical practice. The role is committed to advancing kaupapa Māori approaches to healthcare delivery and improving health outcomes for Māori and all communities served by NPO.

Key responsibilities

About you

Vocational registration and Fellowship with the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (or equivalent), or be working towards Fellowship

Current APC and eligibility to practise in Aotearoa New Zealand

Strong clinical judgement and commitment to quality care

Interest in Māori health and reducing inequities

A collaborative, adaptable and relationship-focused approach
