Job summary

West End Medical Ltd in Whangarei, North Island, is seeking a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis with no on call or weekend work. You will provide high-quality primary care to a diverse patient population and work within our supportive, well-equipped practice.

The successful candidate will be fully registered with the Medical Council of New Zealand, hold a current practising certificate, and have at least two years' experience in general practice.

Qualifications

• Full registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a General Practitioner.
• Current practising certificate and unrestricted registration.
• Minimum of two years' experience as a GP, preferably in a NZ primary care setting.
• Part-time availability with no on-call or weekend work.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive consultations and take medical histories.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic conditions.
• Prescribe medications with appropriate monitoring.
• Refer to secondary care and coordinate ongoing care.
• Perform minor surgical and clinical procedures as appropriate.

West End Medical Ltd is seeking a General Practitioner to join our healthcare team on a part-time basis with no on call or weekend work. This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality primary care services to our diverse patient population in Whangarei Central, Northland. As a General Practitioner, you will be at the forefront of patient care, managing a wide range of acute and chronic conditions whilst building meaningful relationships with our community. This role offers the flexibility of part-time work, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance whilst making a significant impact on patient outcomes and healthcare delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Conducting comprehensive consultations with patients, taking detailed medical histories and performing thorough clinical examinations
• Diagnosing and managing acute and chronic medical conditions in accordance with current clinical guidelines and best practice
• Prescribing medications and other treatments, ensuring appropriate monitoring and follow-up care
• Referring patients to secondary care specialists when necessary and coordinating ongoing care
• Performing minor surgical procedures and clinical procedures as appropriate
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for all patients
• Providing preventative care, health education and health promotion advice to patients
• Contributing to the development and maintenance of clinical protocols and quality improvement initiatives
• Participating in practice meetings and continuing professional development activities
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant healthcare legislation, regulations and professional standards

What we're looking for

• Full registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand as a General Practitioner
• Current practising certificate and unrestricted registration
• Minimum of two years' experience working as a General Practitioner, preferably in a New Zealand primary care setting
• Strong clinical knowledge and competence across a broad range of medical conditions and age groups
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds
• Demonstrated proficiency in using medical practice management systems and electronic health records
• A commitment to continuing professional development and maintaining clinical competence
• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage a busy clinical workload
• A patient-centred approach to healthcare delivery with a focus on quality and safety
• Current immunisations and compliance with health and safety requirements
• Experience working in rural or provincial healthcare settings would be advantageous
