General Medicine Physician – Dunedin Hospital

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora invites applications for a General Medicine Physician to join Dunedin Hospital, a permanent role with both full‑time and part‑time opportunities.

About the role

Provide primary medical care to a population of approximately 350,000 across the lower South Island. Work with a team of twelve full‑time equivalents, sharing after‑hour roster duties for weeknights, weekends, and occasionally as a second on‑call.

Responsibilities
  • Manage patient care, including history taking, examination and ongoing treatment.
  • Lead ward rounds and coordinate multidisciplinary care plans.
  • Perform required clinical procedures.
  • Participate in audit and quality improvement activities.
  • Teach and mentor medical and nursing students.
  • Engage in continuing professional development and research within a combined clinical‑academic environment.
