Job summary

The Ministry of Education (Te Tāhuhu) is seeking a General Manager, Systems Stewardship and Performance to strengthen system integrity, visibility and trust across Māori Education. You will define and monitor Māori learner outcomes, integrate data and insights, and ensure investments and partnerships are aligned with Te Tiriti commitments.

You will lead strategic and operational plans, collaborate with iwi and stakeholders, and shape system direction for equitable, excellent learner outcomes

Qualifications

• Experience in a senior role with high level strategic thinking in a complex environment.
• Understanding of te reo, tikanga and mātauranga Māori.
• Ability to operate through an ao Māori lens.
• Experience developing and delivering integrated strategic and operational plans and budgets.
• Experience leading the implementation, monitoring and improvement of organisational systems, frameworks and processes.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate the broader whole-of-system impact.
• Proven ability to use data and insights to identify trends, risks and opportunities, and to inform system-level decision making.
• A proven track record of building and maintaining trusted relationships with Māori and iwi, Ministers and colleagues.
• Sound machinery of government knowledge, with the ability to navigate ambiguity.
