About the organisation
The Kate Edger Foundation (KEF) advances women in higher education by helping fund their study. It generates the income to do so with a small team of 6 staff (plus casual staff) and through its trading arm, The Graduation Place (TGP) and donors. It is named for Kate Edger, who in 1877 became the first woman in New Zealand to graduate with a university degree.
The Trust grew out of the Auckland branch of the New Zealand Federation of Graduate Women. It’s awards help women enter, stay in, and progress in tertiary studies, and it has donated more than $9million to students over its 21 years as KEF. Each year it hosts an awards ceremony that celebrates more than 100 recipients.
