Job summary

Ring International Recruitment seeks an experienced Gastroenterologist Consultant in Auckland, North Island. The role focuses on providing specialist gastroenterology opinions, diagnosis, and ongoing management for complex cases in collaboration with Health NZ facilities.

The successful candidate will perform interventional gastroenterology procedures, engage in teaching, and participate in quality assurance, with on-call duties and cross-disciplinary liaison as part of a busy department.

Qualifications

• Must be registered or eligible to be registered as a Medical Specialist with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Registered Medical Practitioner by the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Hold or be eligible to hold Vocational Accreditation for area of specialty.
• Hold current professional indemnity insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist gastroenterology opinions, including diagnosis and management plans.
• Screen and prioritise letters from clinicians and coordinate care with other consultants.
• Undertake gastroenterological interventions such as ERCP and endoscopy where appropriate.
• Contribute to acute medical ward consultations and on-call commitments as required.
• Instruct, teach and advise junior medical officers, technicians and nursing staff in gastroenterology and general medicine.
• Promote patient safety and quality improvements within the Gastroenterology Service.
• Participate in the department's Quality Assurance programme and review patient care and outcomes.
