Job summary

Qualifications

  • Requires Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture or 2+ years' amenity horticulture experience.
  • Full Class 1 Driver's Licence required.
  • Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in all conditions.
  • Proactive, reliable attitude and good communication.
  • Willingness to learn and grow in a safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

  • Tackle maintenance of amenity gardens in Queenstown, Arrowtown and other QLDC sites, including Queenstown Gardens.
  • Assist with planting, pruning, pest control and design improvements.
  • Work hands-on with herbaceous, shrub, and rose gardens.

We're looking for an enthusiastic Gardener to join our dedicated team in Queenstown. This is your chance to turn your horticultural skills into a career that supports the wellbeing of our community while working in one of Aotearoa's most breathtaking locations.

What you'll be doing / He aha te mahi

You will be required to carry out the maintenance of amenity gardens in Queenstown, Arrowtown and other QLDC sites, including Queenstown Gardens.

The role will involve:

  • Tackle seasonal tasks-from planting and pruning to pest control and design improvements
  • Maintain and enhance Queenstown's iconic public gardens, including the jewel of our parks: Queenstown Gardens
  • Work hands-on with herbaceous, shrub, and rose gardens
  • Collaborate with a passionate team and contribute to the safety, beauty, and enjoyment of our green spaces
What you'll bring to the role / Ko wai to Pukeka
  • A Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture (or equivalent) or 2+ years' experience in amenity horticulture
  • A Full Class 1 Driver's Licence
  • Strong physical fitness and a love for working outdoors in all conditions
  • A proactive, reliable attitude and great communication skills
  • A willingness to learn and grow in a supportive, safety-focused environment

The pay rate for this role is $30.90/hour to $32.80/hour, depending on competency
