Job summary

Canterbury Rugby Union is seeking a Game Developer – Coaching and Playing to deliver world-class coaching and player development across all grades in North Canterbury (Rangiora) and at Rugby Park in St Albans.

You will lead initiatives in schools, strengthen links with clubs and community providers, and run NZR coaching courses at clubs and schools, fostering growth for club and school coaches and developing resource coaches.

Responsibilities

  • Lead participation initiatives in primary and secondary schools offering contact and non-contact opportunities.
  • Strengthen connections between schools, clubs, and community providers.
  • Deliver coaching and player development programs across clubs and schools including NZR compulsory courses.
  • Deliver player development initiatives such as Development Camps, Front Row Factory, and Tackle Clinics.
  • Support player identification and monitoring systems as required.
  • Lead contact and non-contact rugby experiences in primary schools (including Rippa).
  • Deliver rugby programmes that improve teenage retention and support representative coaches’ development.
  • Work with a high-performing Canterbury Rugby Union team and uphold our values of Manaakitanga, Maia, and Urutaunga.

Game Developer – Coaching and Playing - North Canterbury

Canterbury Rugby Union (CRU) aims to build on their position as one of the leading and most respected rugby organisations in New Zealand and are looking for a Game Developer - Coaching and Playing, to deliver world-class coaching and player development programmes across all grades.

Whilst primarily based in North Canterbury (Rangiora), the successful candidate will also work out of the CRU offices based at Rugby Park in St Albans.

The Game Developer – Playing and Coaching role is an integral member of the team and is expected to deliver world class programs in coaching and player development across all grades.

Key aspects of the role:

Lead participation initiatives in Primary and Secondary Schools offering contact and non-contact opportunities.

Strengthen connections between schools, clubs, and community providers.

Community & Representative Rugby support through player, coach, and community rugby development.

Delivery of NZR compulsory coaching courses throughout clubs and schools facilitating development opportunities for club and school coaches along with Recruiting, developing and support Resource Coaches.

Deliver player development initiatives including Development Camps, Front Row Factory, and Tackle Clinics. Providing engaging rugby experiences in schools, clubs, and community settings.

Support player identification and monitoring systems as required.

Lead contact and non-contact rugby experiences in primary schools (including Rippa), strengthening the connections between Primary Schools and local clubs.

Deliver rugby programmes that improve teenage retention.

Support development and monitoring of representative coaches, ensuring high-quality development environments for representative players.
