Job summary

Auckland Council is seeking a Facilities Coordinator to maintain council-owned buildings and open spaces across the Upper Harbour/Hibiscus & Bays area. You will work with the Facilities Manager to ensure safety, compliance and high-quality outcomes.

You will manage BWOF requirements, monitor contractors, track budgets, and be the first point of contact for maintenance enquiries while promoting health, safety, and sustainability across diverse assets.

Qualifications

  • Experience in facilities management is essential.
  • Understanding of Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) requirements is desirable.
  • Budget management and cost tracking experience.
  • Strong administrative and computer skills.
  • Full clean New Zealand driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee performance of contractors to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Conduct health and safety audits and promote safe work practices.
  • Maximise budgets to achieve high-quality outcomes across assets.
  • Act as the first point of call for maintenance enquiries for the portfolio assets.
  • Manage a diverse portfolio including libraries, leisure centres, community centres, halls and parks.
  • Monitor and audit service delivery from contractors and suppliers.
  • Ensure maintenance activities meet quality, cost and compliance expectations.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives within facilities and open spaces.
  • Promote health, safety and sustainability across assets.

In this rewarding and varied role, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day facilities maintenance of some of Auckland’s valued buildings and open spaces. Working alongside the Facilities Manager, you’ll be covering a range of Auckland Council-owned facilities across the Upper Harbour/Hibiscus & Bays Auckland area.

You’ll develop a comprehensive understanding of the assets in your portfolio and work to ensure the assets meet the needs of the local community. Some of your responsibilities will include overseeing the performance of our contractors, health and safety auditing, maximising your budget to achieve high-quality outcomes, and acting as the first point of call for all maintenance enquiries for the assets in your portfolio.Making Great Places Aucklanders Love.

As our Facilities Coordinator, you will play a key role in ensuring our community facilities and open spaces are safe, compliant, and well maintained. You will support building compliance activities across a diverse portfolio, including the effective management of Building Warrant of Fitness (BWOF) requirements. Working closely with contractors and stakeholders, you will monitor and audit service delivery, drive high performance outcomes, and ensure maintenance activities meet quality, cost, and compliance expectations. You'll also champion continuous improvement initiatives while promoting strong Health, Safety, and sustainability practices across our facilities and open space assets.

You’ll be committed to delivering an exceptional customer experience and be a natural at managing both external and internal stakeholder relationships. You’ll have an understanding of built and open space maintenance, and ideally have some prior experience with facilities management. With strong administrative and computer skills, you’ll also be comfortable managing a budget and providing sound financial tracking.

As this role will require you to use a Council car to travel to and from facilities, you’ll need to hold a full clean New Zealand driver’s license.

Working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, you’ll have some flexibility with how those hours are set. This role is based in the Albany office, and you'll be working in the office and out in the area of your portfolio including a variety of buildings and open spaces.

This position is deemed a safety sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
