Job summary

Westpac New Zealand is seeking a strategic role to shape the bank's readiness for the future of payments. You will identify emerging capabilities, assess ecosystem developments, and translate industry and technology change into clear actions.

You will influence senior leaders, develop business cases, and collaborate with partners to accelerate capability uplift and modernisation. This role requires strong understanding of payment systems and the ability to translate complex trends into practical

Responsibilities

Assess how payment systems and the ecosystem are evolving, identifying implications, opportunities and risks for Westpac.
Evaluate emerging payment technologies and capabilities, including digital assets, tokenisation, digital identity and future payment developments.
Identify capability gaps and technical changes required to support future payment developments.
Develop recommendations and business cases to inform investment, prioritisation and readiness decisions.
Provide specialist advice to senior leaders and governance forums on payment evolution and trends.
Leverage industry partners to inform Westpac's understanding of future capabilities and opportunities.
Identify opportunities where external partnerships can accelerate capability uplift and modernisation.
Build organisational understanding through stakeholder engagement and thought leadership.
