Job summary

New World Wellington Central is hiring two friendly, reliable Seafood Assistants for our supermarket team on a part-time basis. You’ll help prepare, display, and sell fresh seafood, working closely with the department manager to keep the seafood section clean, well-stocked and inviting.

Attention to detail and commitment to food safety are essential. You’ll handle seafood boxes (up to 15 kg), assist customers, and support in the Butchery department when needed.

Qualifications

• Two part-time Seafood Assistant roles available.
• Experience in food handling or seafood an advantage.
• Ability to lift up to 15kg and handle repetitive tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with the preparation and presentation of fresh seafood displays.
• Receiving seafood deliveries and ensuring correct handling, storage and display.
• Monitor product quality and freshness and rotate stock as needed.
• Keep seafood cases full, clean and attractively presented at all times.
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards and maintain a clean work environment.
• Provide excellent customer service by helping shoppers with seafood selection and preparation.
• Assist in the Butchery department when required.
