As a Freight Consultant, you'll work across the business and with our global freight partners to deliver reliable, commercially competitive freight solutions for everything from day-to-day requirements through to complex and time-critical movements. As part of the Air New Zealand Freight team, you'll combine operational freight expertise with commercial thinking, supplier management and strong stakeholder relationships. You'll help ensure we use the right freight solution, with the right provider, at the right time and cost, while continuously looking for opportunities to improve performance and deliver value.

About the role
  • Manage relationships and performance across our freight forwarder and logistics provider network, ensuring contractual obligations, SLAs and service expectations are delivered
  • Coordinate domestic and international freight solutions, including complex, time-critical and non-standard movements
  • Analyse freight performance, cost and operational data to identify performance gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Support commercial activity including rate cards, supplier performance and cost optimisation, balancing service, risk and value
  • Lead and support freight and logistics projects, delivering against agreed operational, commercial and service outcomes
  • Drive continuous improvement across freight processes while building strong stakeholder relationships and ensuring regulatory and compliance requirements are met.
What we're looking for
  • Strong experience within freight forwarding, aviation freight, international logistics or a similarly complex supply chain environment
  • Sound knowledge of end-to-end freight operations, including experience managing complex or time-critical movements
  • Experience managing freight forwarders or logistics providers, including contracts, SLAs, KPIs and supplier performance
  • Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to analyse freight costs and balance cost, service and operational risk
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to influence, challenge and build effective relationships
  • Proven ability to manage competing priorities, solve complex problems and identify improvements that deliver measurable cost, process or service benefits.
