Job summary

ZURU is seeking the founding SRE for its internal application estate in Auckland. You will design and build a reliability function that lets applications outlive engineers, working across Auckland and China to implement standards, automation and shared capabilities from day one.

The role emphasizes AWS expertise, observability, and SRE fundamentals. You will shape the estate, cut toil, and drive resilience as part of a high-growth tech-driven team at ZURU.

Qualifications

• Experience with owning reliability for multi-application estates.
• Strong on AWS and cloud-native observability practices.
• Able to define and implement SLOs that drive real decisions.

Responsibilities

• Own automated checks for joining the supported estate.
• Harden and publish AWS foundations (Lambda, ECS, EKS, Terraform).
• Wire Open Telemetry into a single telemetry layer from day one.
• Design scalable incident response that reduces toil and scales with the team.
• Ensure repeat failures are moved into the shared capability package.
