Job summary

EmployMe Solutions in Blenheim, South Island, New Zealand, is seeking a skilled Forklift Mechanic to join our team.

You will maintain, service, and repair forklifts and hire equipment, perform on-site field service, diagnose issues, and keep accurate service records while explaining repairs to customers.

A NZQA Level 4 trade qualification and a minimum of 2 years post-trade experience are required; a company vehicle is provided and overtime plus on-call allowances apply.

Qualifications

• NZQA Level 4 Trade Qualification (Automotive/Heavy Diesel or similar)
• Minimum 2 years post-trade experience servicing and repairing forklifts or similar machinery
• Strong diagnostic and repair skills across mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Professional communication skills – able to converse confidently and clearly with customers
• A proactive attitude toward learning, safety, and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, and repair forklifts and hire equipment on behalf of the employer
• Perform breakdown repairs in workshop or on-site (field service) – some travel may be required
• Conduct pre-delivery inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance
• Complete all job cards and service records accurately and on time
• Explain repairs to customers on site
• Undertake training to maintain competency and stay up to date with equipment and systems
