Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is seeking a Forensic Pathologist at Christchurch Hospital. You will perform post-mortem examinations, prepare autopsy reports, and provide expert court opinion as required, supporting coroners, police and families.

The service conducts around 500 coronial post-mortems annually with diverse case mix and opportunities to teach trainees and collaborate with the University of Otago, in a lifestyle-friendly Christchurch setting.

Qualifications

• FRCPA in Forensic Pathology or international equivalent.
• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
• Strong report writing and court presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Undertake post-mortem examinations as directed by the Coroner.
• Provide detailed autopsy reports and expert court testimony when required.
• Contribute to teaching and training of trainees and medical students.
• Engage with University of Otago and other stakeholders.
