Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora in Christchurch is seeking a Forensic Pathologist to join the team at Christchurch Hospital. You will conduct post-mortem examinations, prepare autopsy reports, and provide expert court opinions, supporting coroners, police, families and the courts.

The role offers involvement in teaching and trainee supervision, with collaboration across a multidisciplinary team and access to modern mortuary facilities.

Qualifications

• FRCPA in Forensic Pathology or international equivalent.
• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Strong communication and court presentation skills.
• Ability to produce clear, detailed autopsy reports.

Responsibilities

• Undertake post-mortem examinations as directed by the Coroner.
• Provide detailed autopsy reports and expert court opinion when required.
• Support coroners, police, families and the courts with forensic pathology services.
• Contribute to teaching and training of trainees and students.
