Job summary

Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora - Southern invites applications for a Forensic Pathologist at Christchurch Hospital. You will perform coronial post-mortem examinations, provide autopsy reports, and give expert court opinion while contributing to teaching and training of trainees.

Based at Canterbury Health Laboratories with access to modern mortuary facilities and a dedicated PMCT scanner, you will work in a collaborative team, with opportunities for research and involvement with the

Qualifications

• FRCPA in Forensic Pathology (or international equivalent).
• Eligibility for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
• Strong report writing and court presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform coronial post-mortem examinations as directed by the Coroner and provide autopsy reports.
• Deliver expert opinion in court when required.
• Contribute to teaching and training, including supervision of trainees and medical students.
• Engage with the University of Otago and advance forensic pathology services within the coronial system.
