Job summary

Sofitel Queenstown invites an enthusiastic hospitality professional to join our luxury team. You will engage guests with a personable approach, take orders, upsell thoughtfully, and ensure accurate dockets for smooth service. You’ll deliver to kitchens and guests promptly while upholding Sofitel standards of presentation and service.

We value a professional image, strong interpersonal skills, and a can-do attitude. Applicants must have NZ working rights and be flexible for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably including 5 star experience.
  • Projects professional image at all times through personal presentation/interpersonal skills.
  • Desire and ability to train and develop staff.
  • Initiates contacts and establishes rapport easily.
  • Organises time and work efficiently.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Has the aptitude and willingness to undertake further development with Sofitel.
  • A professional and friendly can-do attitude, with fantastic interpersonal skills to easily build connection with both guests and colleagues.
  • Reliable and punctual with a high attention to detail and willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts including weekends and public holidays.
  • Knowledge of wines, spirits & cocktails would be highly advantageous.
  • You will need to hold working rights for New Zealand.

Job Description

  • Engage with all our guests in a personable and friendly manner, building rapport and creating connection.
  • Perform the tasks of order taking and maximize sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling. Ensure accuracy by repeating order(s) to the guests.
  • Ensure that dockets are written clearly and correctly so the cashier and kitchen can fulfill their duties effectively.
  • Deliver orders promptly to the kitchen production area.
  • Check ordered meals on collection from kitchen and deliver to guests promptly to maintain temperature and appearance, ensure items are announced.
  • Keep tables and service areas clean and tidy as per procedure manual.
  • Maintain hygienic food service techniques during service.
  • Take responsibility for your designated section and station.
  • Promptly answer the telephone and maximize sales opportunities through knowledge of product and suggestive selling.
  • Perform all tasks to Sofitel Brand standards.
  • Maximise sales opportunities through a thorough knowledge of our menus and offerings.
  • Assist in the setup and breakdown of events and functions
  • Deliver room service and amenities as required
  • Any other reasonable request within your range of competence as required by your Supervisor or Hotel Management.
