Job summary

Air New Zealand in Auckland is seeking expressions of interest for Cabin Crew to join our fleet on a full-time basis at our Auckland base, with intakes commencing from October 2026 onwards. This role places you at the heart of our operation, ensuring every passenger is welcomed with warmth and safety from boarding through to arrival.

You'll be the face of the airline, delivering Kiwi hospitality and maintaining high grooming standards while working closely with your crew in a dynamic, 24/7

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years in a customer-facing role in a high-pressured environment.
• New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency (or Australian equivalent) and a valid passport with at least 2 years remaining.
• Full New Zealand Driver License with reliable transport.
• Ability to work a 24/7 roster, including weekends and public holidays.
• Excellent communication and grooming standards.

What You'll Be Doing

As an Air New Zealand Flight Attendant, you'll be the face of our airline, responsible for creating a safe, welcoming, and enjoyable experience for every passenger from the moment they step onboard until they reach their destination.

Key Requirements

• Citizenship or Residency: New Zealand Citizenship, Australian Citizenship, New Zealand Permanent Residency, or Australian Permanent Residency. You must also have the ability to travel overseas, including a valid passport with a minimum of 2 years' validity remaining.
• Age: 18 years of age or older from the time of application.
• Experience: Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in a customer-facing role in a high-pressured environment is preferred. We're looking for someone with a natural passion for people, the ability to cope under pressure, and resilience in unforeseen circumstances.
• Driver License: Full New Zealand Driver License with reliable transport from the time of application.
• Communication Skills: Passenger safety is paramount. The ability to address and effectively communicate compliance requirements with passengers is a must.
• Physical Fitness: Being physically fit is essential for this role, as it requires the ability to perform tasks that involve physical activity and being on your feet for extended periods.
• Availability: We operate in a 24/7 industry, so you'll need to commit to rostered shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
• Language Skills (Desirable): While not essential, we encourage candidates with Japanese language skills to apply, as these are valued in supporting our customers.
• Grooming and Uniform Standards: You must be able to comply with Air New Zealand's grooming and uniform standards.

The Recruitment Process

Our selection process is designed to identify the best candidates who embody the Air New Zealand spirit. Here's what to expect:

1. If you meet all the above minimum requirements, you'll be asked to complete an online digital video interview.
2. Cognitive assessment to evaluate your problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
3. Invitation to attend an assessment centre, where you'll showcase your skills in person.
4. Successful candidates will go through an extensive vetting process, which includes:
   • 2x professional references.
   • Medical clearance.
   • Police clearance.
   • Swim test (50 metres under two minutes and treading water for one minute).
   • St John's Level 2 first aid course certification.
5. You'll then be placed into our candidate talent pool. Our Talent Acquisition team will be in touch once we have an available paid Cabin Crew training course.
