Job summary

Ministry of Justice in Wellington is seeking a Publishing Advisor with a legal background to join the Judicial Libraries team, to ensure the accurate, timely and legally safe publication of judicial decisions to public access sites while complying with suppression and privacy laws.

Key duties include reviewing court decisions for compliance, anonymising and publishing tribunal decisions, and assisting users of Judicial Decisions Online, plus contributing to team projects and service-improvement

Qualifications

• A legal qualification.
• Understanding of statutory publication restrictions.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Understanding of Te Ao Māori and Te Reo Māori.
• Initiative and ability to grasp new concepts and systems.
• Ability to manage competing priorities.
• Resilience when handling sensitive cases.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing court decisions to ensure compliance with suppression and privacy laws before publication.
• Anonymising and publishing tribunal decisions to ensure compliance with policies and laws.
• Investigating and responding to queries from users of Judicial Decisions Online (JDO).
• Involvement in team projects and service improvement initiatives.
